WinRho is an injection offered to women who are pregnant or postpartum if their blood type is Rh negative. This is to prevent the woman from producing antibodies against this baby, or babies of future pregnancies. The injection is a blood product but is considered safe, with only a theoretical risk of HIV or hepatitis transmission. There is a small risk of allergic reaction, which can be treated.
